A versatile shirt combining relaxed fit with eye-catching details.

It features striking screen printed collar and cuffs in patterns inspired by photographs of snow on heather and the dramatic cuffs, ruffs and lace collars of 16th and 17th century fashion.

A full sleeve shape with large pleats falling across the back shoulder blade completes the dynamic look.

The shirt is made of black linen from Amothreads, a supplier of deadstock – fabric that has been leftover or rejected by a manufacturer or mill. This means it has some ‘flaws’: there are pale lines which cross the fabric here or there in a kind of marbling effect. I have chosen to embrace them as part of being a sustainable designer/maker.

The buttons are made of corozo, the nut of the Tagua palm tree. They are extremely strong and durable but ultimately biodegradable, unlike plastic buttons. They have a beautiful patina within them, from the grain of the nut. These buttons came from a supplier called Textile Garden.

Details and features include:

  • Bold screen printed collar and cuffs
  • Full sleeves pleated across the back shoulder
  • A button cuff and sleeve placket with triangle topstitch detailing
  • Three pleats in the sleeve at the cuff opening, mirroring the  pleated sleeve head
  • Left over right button front fastening with sustainably produced corozo buttons.
  • A dipped back hem
  • Screen printed chest pocket
